Meet the Staff 

Terry Sheaffer 

 pastor 

Terry Sheaffer serves as the pastor of Higher Ground Assembly of God. A 1992 graduate of Zion Bible Institute, he has dedicated over 25 years to ministry, driven by a deep passion for God’s Word, prayer, and worship.

His heart longs to see revival in the Church and to help people develop a personal relationship with Christ. He encourages believers to grow in their faith by studying and living out God’s Word, worshipping not just through music but in every aspect of daily life.

Beyond ministry, Pastor Terry is an avid traditional bow hunter who finds solace in the woods. He enjoys riding motorcycle, family vacations to Chincoteague Island, and making cherished memories with his grandchildren. He and his wife, Melissa, are blessed with three children and eight grandchildren.

Lydia VonFricken

Lydia is a passionate worship leader with a heart for guiding others into meaningful encounters with God. With years of experience leading worship she combines powerful music, prayer, and scripture to create an atmosphere of worship that is focused on the Lord.

She loves to read, make sourdough, and be outdoors. She is married to her husband, Matthew, of 10 years and together have two miracle children.

Hannah Stong

Hannah has attended Higher Ground for over 16 years and has felt the Lord leading her specifically to children's ministry for a long time. She is a dedicated children’s ministry leader with a passion for helping young hearts grow in their faith. Hannah is committed to nurturing the next generation of believers.

She is married to her husband, Austin, of 15 years and together they have four children. She loves to spend time with family and friends.
